THANKS GIVING

What kind of a blogger would I be if I failed to post an obligatory Thanksgiving post. Well here it is Sunday afternoon of the Thanksgiving weekend and luckily for you I am compelled.

I think as I get older I understand Thanksgiving to be two words. Not one word, a noun describing a holiday that has become simply a grain of sand in the hour glass of my life, but two words. A noun and a verb. Thanks Giving. But they need to be switched around. It seems to me that if it is one word it's easier to overlook most everything but the Turkey, Indian Corn Pudding, Green Bean Casserole, Brussels Sprouts (yeah this year we had them go figure?) and Pumpkin Pie. A simple reason to gorge oneself on foods that conjure ideas of a historical event. Sometimes I think we'd understand the point more if we fasted or ate a meal that might be typical in an impoverished country. Rice and water, beans and water.... or nothing and water.

I heard it said once that America is the birthplace of complaining and there are a lot of days when I am the king. I hope this year maybe I'll abdicate and simply be a prince or a duke and maybe one with less to say.
